A Healthy life begins with healthy choices. Wherever you are, make a start towards the healthy life by making small, effective choices while eating, drinking and exercising. Health isn’t just about exercising. Exercise HAS to be accompanied by a healthy diet to get effective and lasting results.
Here are some tips to give you a head-start on the way to health.
- Start with a plan for lifelong health
Aim at achieving overall good health and not just short-term weight loss. Don’t be ‘on’ a diet to lose weight; because if you’re ‘on’ a diet, you would eventually be ‘off’ it and that’s when your body starts putting on more weight than usual. Choose a healthy and balanced diet which gives you all the nutrients you need.
- Set achievable, realistic goals
Start with one or two specific, small changes at a time. Set small, achievable and realistic goals for yourself. You will be motivated to take it further once you achieve them. Don’t forget to reward yourself when you accomplish your goals. Being healthy is not a punishment. Make it fun by rewarding yourself on the way.
- Eat Breakfast
The most important part of your diet is breakfast. Start your morning with a healthy breakfast as it provides energy to take you through the day. It kick-starts your metabolism, helping you burn calories throughout the day. It also gives you the energy you need to get things done and helps you focus at work.

- Cut Back on Added Sugars
Sugar added to foods and drinks often contribute empty calories and little or no nutrition. Reviewing ingredients on the food label can help you identify sources of added sugar.
- Be Active
Regular physical activity has countless health benefits. Start by doing any exercise for at least 10 minutes at a time. Ideally, children & teens should get 60 or more minutes of physical activity per day, & adults should get 2 and half hours per week. You don’t always have to hit the gym, take a walk or play a sport of your choice. Any activity is good activity.
- Explore New Foods and Flavours
Add more nutrition and eating pleasure by expanding your range of food choices. When shopping, make a point of selecting a fruit, vegetable or whole grain that’s new to you or your family.
